Results of Participation in the Academic Managers Professional Development Programme

The team from Chernihiv Polytechnic National University took part in the final International Online Conference within the Academic Managers Professional Development Programme. Management teams from 60 Ukrainian universities participated in the conference, presenting their Institutional Change Projects — practical steps toward transforming universities: from rethinking their role in society and implementing new HR policies to changes in financial planning and modernization of development strategies.

Participants were welcomed by Colm McGivern, Director of the British Council, and Mykola Trofymenko, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, who outlined the priorities of state policy in higher education. Svitlana Kalashnikova, Adviser to the Directorate of the Institute of Higher Education of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine and Leader of the Programme’s Expert Team, presented the results of the first cycle of the Programme.

Among the keynote speakers were Alison Johns, Global Ambassador of Advance HE, who shared an international perspective on the challenges faced by higher education leaders, and Lesley Haig, Rector of Health Sciences University, who spoke about lessons learned from the merger of universities in the United Kingdom.

The event concluded with a final session that summarized the key outcomes and outlined the next steps in advancing academic management in Ukraine.

The Academic Managers Professional Development Programme is a unique initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, implemented by the British Council within the joint MoES–World Bank Ukraine project “Improving Higher Education for Results.”
