Chernihiv Polytechnic National University  Hosts Scientific and Practical Conference on Preserving the Architectural Heritage of Chernihiv Region

          From December 23 to 26, 2025,  Chernihiv Polytechnic National University hosted the scientific and practical conference “Monitoring and Preservation of Architectural Heritage Sites of the Chernihiv Region”. The event was organized by the university in collaboration with the Academy of Construction of Ukraine and the Department of Urban Planning and Architecture of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration.

        On December 23, the conference was officially opened by the Rector of the university, Oleh Novomlynets. Anatoliy Prystupa, Vice-Rector for Research at Chernihiv Polytechnic National University, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. Serhiy Kurenya, Head of the Department of Urban Planning and Architecture of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration, greeted the attendees and delivered a report on ensuring barrier-free access to architectural heritage sites.

         During the plenary session, a report on the international project The BRIDGE was presented by Iryna Prybytko, Director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Engineering, Production, and Construction. The prospects for implementing BIM design in Ukraine were discussed by Timur Haniyev, Head of the Department of Welding Technologies and Construction. Ihor Petrenko, Assistant of the WTC Department, demonstrated practical examples of using laser scanning on historical buildings. Mykola Korzachenko, Associate Professor of the WTC Department and the initiator of this annual event, reported on the results of surveys of architectural heritage sites in the Chernihiv region and prospects for cooperation with the Department of Urban Planning and Architecture in 2025. The conference has been organized twice a year by the WTC Department since 2011.

         The event was timed to coincide with the celebration of St. Nicholas Day, and participants received symbolic gifts and sweets.

          On December 24–25, sectional sessions were held with the participation of students and faculty, during which presentations were made on the study of architectural monuments, including the use of 3D scanning and 3D printing.

          On December 26, Ihor Petrenko, Assistant of the WTC Department, conducted a master class on laser scanning using the example of the Hlibov Castle in Chernihiv, with modern equipment provided under the international support of UNESCO financed by Japan.

          The conference also featured active participation from Andriy Serhieiev, Honored Builder of Ukraine, and Volodymyr Pavlenko, People’s Architect of Ukraine, who shared their professional experience. Stakeholders and employers also joined the discussions, offering valuable proposals to improve educational programs and specialist training.

The conference was conducted in a friendly and constructive atmosphere, was extensive in scale, and united many professionals and like-minded individuals.

Following the event, the best presentations will be recognized, and preparations are underway for the conference proceedings and participant certificates.
