Open Lecture by Dr. Jose Castillo

          On 3 November 2025, the Department of Welding Technologies and Construction held an online open lecture delivered by Dr. Jose Castillo, Professor at Centro Universitario Fundacao, São André, São Paulo (Brazil).

          Participants of the lecture included students and academic staff of the following specialties (educational programmes) of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Engineering, Production and Construction:

• G19 Construction and Civil Engineering (Construction and Civil Engineering);
• G9 Applied Mechanics (Welding Technologies and Equipment);
• G11 Industrial Mechanical Engineering;
• J8 Automotive Transport,

as well as from the Educational and Scientific Institute of Environmental Management and Humanities:

• E2 Ecology

          The attendees had the opportunity to explore the full variety of modern arc welding processes, methods of their mechanization and automation, considering both personal and collective safety requirements in the workplace. Special attention was given to the importance of non-destructive testing methods for quality control and technical diagnostics of welds, as well as to the role of welded structure design in ensuring the strength and reliability of welded joints.
