Presentation of the Strategy for the Implementation of Courses of the Council of Europe “HELP” Program to the Educational Process of Higher Education Institutions of Ukraine 

On June 18, 2024, an online presentation of the Strategy for the Implementation of the Courses of the Council of Europe “HELP” Program (Human Rights Education for Lawyers) to the educational process of higher education institutions of Ukraine took place. At the invitation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, scientific and pedagogical staff of the Faculty of Law also joined the presentation of the mentioned Strategy.

          Institutions of higher education and teachers of legal disciplines are already actively using HELP courses as an additional tool that complements educational programs for students, primarily legal majors. The strategy aims to provide proposals for further development and improvement of the process of integration of HELP courses into the educational process of higher education institutions of Ukraine. The strategy contains a description of HELP courses and normative regulation in the field of non-formal education, as well as an overview of existing practices of implementation of relevant courses by teachers of legal disciplines and practices of recognition in higher education of learning outcomes obtained through non-formal and/or informal education.

           During the event, the European training program in the field of human rights for representatives of legal professions, its purpose, tasks, and partners of the Project were discussed in detail. The new course of the Council of Europe HELP “International humanitarian law and human rights” was also presented. An important part of the event was the presentation of the Strategy for the introduction of HELP courses into the educational process of higher education institutions of Ukraine, in particular, the proposals for further development and improvement of the process of integrating courses into the educational process.
