Visit to Germany as part of the project “Local stability and recovery: the potential of Ukrainian civil society in Chernihiv region”

          From July 8 to 11, 2024, an exchange and networking trip to Germany (Berlin and Schwerin) took place within the framework of the project “Local sustainability and recovery: the potential of Ukrainian civil society in Chernihiv region”.

         The delegation included heads of communities and representatives of non-governmental organizations of Chernihiv Region. NGO “Chernihiv European” was represented by the head. Nataliya SHAKUN of the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences of Chernihiv Polytechnic National University, who participated in the presentation of the study “Civil Society of Chernihiv Region: Stability Factors, Urgent Needs, Participation in Reconstruction.”

          The program of the visit included:

  • meetings in the Department of European and International Urban Development Policy of the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Planning and Construction;
  • with representatives of the S04 department (stabilization and reforms) from the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
  • in the department of cooperation in the field of municipal development of the German Association of Cities and Municipalities (Deutscher Städte- und Gemeindebund); with the president and deputies of various factions of the parliament of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern;
  • with representatives of the Youth Council of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Gerhard Blej, initiators of youth exchanges between Chernihiv Oblast and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern;
  • as well as with members of the NGO Nord Haus UA, and representatives of Ukrainian diaspora organizations (Ukrainian-German cultural center “Sich”) from other cities of the federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, as well as representatives of local German organizations (Caritas Schwerin, Red Cross of Grevesmullen.

 

          The meeting participants discussed and planned cooperation in the field of education and science, cultural exchanges, exchange of experience in various fields, humanitarian aid, support of democracy and protection of human rights.

           The familiarization trip was organized by the German-Ukrainian Bureau as part of the project “Local stability and recovery: the potential of Ukrainian civil society in the Chernihiv region” with the financial support of the German Federal Agency for Civic Education (Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung/bpb).
