We summarize the results of the School of tutors (second set) within the framework of the ERASMUS+ KA2 PROMENT project

          From September 24 to 26, the second School of tutors was held at Chernihiv Polytechnic National University within the framework of the ERASMUS+ KA2 PROMENT international project “Promotion of professional education and active participation of students through the creation of a comprehensive system of mentoring and tutoring in institutions of higher education.”

          The purpose of the School of Tutors was to provide students with the necessary knowledge and competencies to participate in the tutoring program for freshmen, the piloting of which began at the university on September 1. Higher education seekers who were recommended by student self-government bodies as tutors (student supervisors) for academic groups of the first year of the 2024 recruitment were invited to the training.

          Training at the School of tutors took place in a mixed format. On the first day, the participants were greeted by the vice-rector for scientific-pedagogical work and social development Olga Yevgenivna MELNYK, who emphasized the importance of tutoring at the university and the special role of tutors in providing assistance to first-year students on an “equal to equal” basis.

          Training sessions at the School of Tutors were conducted by: Lyudmila REMNYOVA, head of the department of personnel management and labor economics, project coordinator; Alla KHOLODNYTSKA, associate professor of the department of personnel management and business technologies, head of the Tutoring and Mentoring Center; Alla NITCHENKO, assistant professor of the department of law enforcement and general legal disciplines, coordinator of the “Tutoring for first-year students” program. as well as the invited expert – psychologist Tetyana DETSYUK.

          The participants of the School took part in offline team building “Skills of a tutor: communication, leadership and teamwork”, the purpose of which was to develop key skills for the successful activity of a tutor.

     The program of the School of tutors covered such issues as the organization of group and individual tutoring, the study of the main algorithms of the tutor’s work, the development of communication skills, leadership qualities, and effective teamwork. In addition, the participants got acquainted with the basics of planning tutoring sessions, monitoring work results and determining areas for tutor development, as well as tutor reporting on work results. All participants filled out feedback questionnaires, and also passed tests to determine their level of formation of such skills as leadership, teamwork and communication
