Conducting Research at U.S. Universities: Fulbright Research and Development Program (FRDP)

          The Fulbright Program in Ukraine invites applications for the Fulbright Research and Development Program (FRDP) for scholars and professionals under 45 years of age.

          The program allows participants to conduct individual research, design and update academic courses, explore advanced teaching methodologies, and attend academic conferences at U.S. higher education institutions for a duration of 6 to 9 months.

          Eligible Candidates:

• Applicants up to 45 years old with at least 2 years of professional experience (university instructors, PhD/doctoral students, researchers without a doctorate degree, university administrators, library/museum/archive specialists, arts management professionals, cultural managers, journalists, and NGO staff);
• Note: Candidates holding a Doctor of Sciences degree (доктор наук) are not eligible for FRDP and should apply to the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program instead.

          Eligible Academic Fields: Humanities, Social Sciences, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), and Natural Sciences.

          Eligibility Criteria:

• Ukrainian citizenship and residence in Ukraine at the time of application (applicants who resided in Ukraine prior to February 24, 2022, but were forced to leave due to the war are also eligible);
• At least 2 years of teaching, research, PhD study, or administrative experience in higher education/relevant field;
• Proficiency in English (TOEFL iBT score of at least 80);
• Obligation to return to Ukraine for at least 2 years following the grant period (under J-1 visa requirements);
• Applicants may reapply for other Fulbright Scholar programs no earlier than 2 years after completing FRDP.

          Grant Benefits:

• Monthly stipend;

• Three Letters of Recommendation;
• Copies of Higher Education Diplomas & Transcripts (and degree certificates, if applicable);
• Portfolio (required for creative arts fields);
• Letter of Invitation from a host U.S. institution (optional).
